1. Information & Referral (I&R)
Information and Referral serves as the front door to BAIN Inc. CIL. We maintain an exhaustive directory of regional resources to help you locate answers to disability-related questions.
Who This Is For
Any individual, family member, caregiver, or service provider looking for disability-related resources in Southwest Georgia.
Availability
Walk-in, phone, or online inquiries. Staff response within 24–48 business hours.
Target Metrics
Connecting over 1,500 consumers annually with verified housing, transport, and equipment leads.
Common Inquiries: Accessible housing lists, transportation options, medical equipment closets, financial assistance programs, and local support networks.
2. Independent Living Skills Training
Gain the skills necessary to manage your household and daily life independently. We offer tailored, one-on-one training sessions in natural, community, or home settings.
Who This Is For
Individuals with significant disabilities seeking to learn new skills to live on their own or improve safety.
Availability
Customized sessions scheduled with an Independent Living Coordinator at our office or in your home.
Target Metrics
90% of consumers training in self-care, cooking, or budgeting report increased independence within 6 months.
Training Modules: Money management & budgeting, adaptive cooking, organizational skills, emergency preparedness, navigating public transit, and communication device usage.
3. Peer Support & Mentoring
Peer support matches you with trained mentors who also have disabilities. Sharing experiences and strategies helps consumers build confidence, overcome isolation, and achieve goals.
Who This Is For
Consumers seeking advice, empathy, and mutual support from someone who has "been there."
Availability
Monthly group meetings, specialized workshops, or individual peer-matching sessions.
Target Metrics
Dozens of active peer groups and 100+ individual peer counseling connections annually.
Group Themes: Adjusting to new disabilities, community barrier-navigation, visual impairment adaptation, and youth social circles.
4. Individual & Systems Advocacy
We work with you to understand your legal rights (such as under the ADA and Fair Housing Act). We also engage in systems advocacy to change policies, update public spaces, and increase programmatic accessibility region-wide.
Who This Is For
Individuals facing discrimination, denied accommodations, or wanting to join civic campaigns.
Availability
Individual consults on rights, plus open participation in local advocacy campaigns and task forces.
Target Metrics
Successfully resolving 95%+ of personal ADA inquiries and coordinating regular civic workshops.
5. Transition Services
Transition services encompass three key areas designed to prevent institutionalization and support lifestyle transitions:
- Nursing Home Transition: Helping individuals relocate from institutional settings (like nursing facilities) back into community residences.
- Diversion: Providing services to individuals at risk of entering nursing homes, ensuring they have the modifications and supports to remain at home.
- Youth Transition: Guiding young adults (ages 14-24) as they transition from high school to post-secondary education, vocational training, or independent employment.
Who This Is For
Nursing home residents wishing to move, those at risk of placement, or youth in transitional school phases.
Availability
Requires comprehensive intake and personal goal mapping with our Transition Coordinators.
