Full-Time GVRA Expansion Contract (FY26) 14-County Service Area

Position Summary

The Independent Living (IL) Specialist provides Independent Living core services in accordance with the Rehabilitation Act and the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) Independent Living Expansion Contract in Southwest Georgia. This role promotes independence, community integration, self-sufficiency, and consumer-directed decision-making for individuals with disabilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide Independent Living core services including Information & Referral, Independent Living Skills Training, Peer Counseling, Advocacy, and Transition services.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Individualized Independent Living Plans (ILPs).
  • Complete service documentation and case notes within required timelines.
  • Respond to consumer inquiries within required timeframes and initiate services promptly.
  • Conduct outreach activities and represent BAIN in assigned counties.
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and monitoring activities.
  • Collaborate with staff, partners, and GVRA representatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with ADA, Section 504, WIOA, and GVRA policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Independent Living philosophy and disability rights.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned service area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lived experience with disability.
  • Experience working in a Center for Independent Living or similar community-based program.
  • Familiarity with state or federally funded contracts.

Work Environment & Requirements

This position involves a combination of office-based, community-based, and virtual service delivery. Evening or weekend hours may be required for outreach or events. Reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Funding Contingency Statement

This position is contingent upon the availability and continuation of GVRA contract funding. Continuation of employment is dependent on satisfactory performance and continued funding.

Full-Time Grant-Funded (VR / Pre-ETS) P2P / Bridging the Gap

P2P Peer Support Mentor

Position Title: P2P Peer Support Mentor

Employment Type Full-Time (Grant-Funded; contingent upon VR / Pre-ETS funding)

Reports To P2P Instructor / Program Coordinator
Work Setting School-based, community-based, and program travel (including summer camp)

Position Summary

The P2P Peer Support Mentor is an allowable personnel position under Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS). The Mentor supports youth with disabilities through peer-based mentoring, classroom team teaching, and transition-focused activities aligned with the five required Pre-ETS services. The position emphasizes youth engagement, self-advocacy, work readiness, and career exploration.

Key Responsibilities – Pre-ETS Activities

  • Provide peer support and team teaching during classroom-based Pre-ETS instruction.
  • Support instruction related to self-advocacy, workplace readiness, career exploration, and postsecondary planning.
  • Collaborate with designated VR Counselors to develop mentoring plans for youth; implement mentoring plans for youth enrolled in the Bridging the Gap program.
  • Serve as lead peer mentor supporting transition goals.
  • Participate in transition fairs, weekend programs, and summer camps.
  • Attend and support youth during the Bridging the Gap Residential Work-Based Skills (RWS) Summer Camp.

Data Collection & Compliance (VR / Pre-ETS)

  • Assist with Bridging the Gap data collection.
  • Assist with middle school Pre-ETS data collection as needed.
  • Maintain accurate participation and mentoring records.
  • Support collection of required consent and permission forms.
  • Assist with parent communication related to Pre-ETS participation.
  • Collaborate daily with the P2P Instructor/Coordinator.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth or young adults with disabilities.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work in school, community, and camp settings.
  • Willingness to travel and attend multi-day programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lived experience with disability.
  • Experience with mentoring, peer support, or transition services.
  • Familiarity with VR or Pre-ETS programming.
