POSITION TITLE: P2P Peer Support Mentor 

Position Information 

Employment Type: Full-Time (Grant-Funded; contingent upon VR / Pre-ETS funding) Program: P2P / Bridging the Gap 

Reports To: P2P Instructor / Program Coordinator 

Work Setting: School-based, community-based, and program travel (including summer  camp) 

Position Summary 

The P2P Peer Support Mentor is an allowable personnel position under Vocational  Rehabilitation (VR) Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS). The Mentor supports  youth with disabilities through peer-based mentoring, classroom team teaching, and  transition-focused activities aligned with the five required Pre-ETS services. The position  emphasizes youth engagement, self-advocacy, work readiness, and career exploration. 

Key Responsibilities – Pre-ETS Activities 

● Provide peer support and team teaching during classroom-based Pre-ETS  instruction 

● Support instruction related to self-advocacy, workplace readiness, career  exploration, and postsecondary planning 

● Collaborate with designated VR Counselors to develop mentoring plans for youth Implement mentoring plans for youth enrolled in the Bridging the Gap program ● Serve as lead peer mentor supporting transition goals 

● Participate in transition fairs, weekend programs, and summer camps ● Attend and support youth during the Bridging the Gap Residential Work-Based  Skills (RWS) Summer Camp 

Data Collection & Compliance (VR / Pre-ETS) 

● Assist with Bridging the Gap data collection

● Assist with middle school Pre-ETS data collection as needed 

● Maintain accurate participation and mentoring records 

● Support collection of required consent and permission forms 

● Assist with parent communication related to Pre-ETS participation ● Collaborate daily with the P2P Instructor/Coordinator 

Qualifications 

Required: 

☐ Experience working with youth or young adults with disabilities 

☐ Strong communication and relationship-building skills 

☐ Ability to work in school, community, and camp settings 

☐ Willingness to travel and attend multi-day programs 

Preferred: 

☐ Lived experience with disability 

☐ Experience with mentoring, peer support, or transition services 

☐ Familiarity with VR or Pre-ETS programming

FUNDING CONTINGENCY STATEMENT 

This position is contingent upon the availability and continuation of grant or contract funding.  Continuation of employment is dependent on satisfactory performance and continued funding.
