Position Title: Independent Living Specialist – Bainbridge
POSITION SUMMARY
The Independent Living Specialist provides direct Independent Living core services to individuals with disabilities, supporting consumer choice, self-determination, and community inclusion in the primary 11 county service area. This position works directly with consumers, staff, and community partners to deliver services, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with program and funding requirements in alignment with Independent Living philosophy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide Independent Living core services including Information & Referral, Independent Living Skills Training, Peer Counseling, Advocacy, and Transition services.
● Develop, implement, and maintain Individualized Independent Living Plans (ILPs). ● Complete service documentation and case notes within required timelines. ● Respond to consumer inquiries within required timeframes and initiate services promptly.
● Conduct outreach activities and represent BAIN in assigned counties. ● Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and monitoring activities. ● Collaborate with staff, partners, and GVRA representatives.
● Maintain confidentiality and comply with ADA, Section 504, WIOA, and GVRA policies.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, rehabilitation, or related field OR equivalent experience.
● Knowledge of Independent Living philosophy and disability rights. ● Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills. ● Ability to travel within the assigned service area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Lived experience with disability.
● Experience working in a Center for Independent Living or similar community-based program.
● Familiarity with state or federally funded contracts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office-based, community-based, or hybrid depending on role. Reasonable accommodations provided.
